Monsters!

These are the monster teeth from the party. I think Miller has had more fun with them than anyone- she keeps a pair in her purse!! I love how she sticks her tongue out of them!

The Monster Bash

Wilson and his friend John Clark have birthdays that are one week apart. This year they had a double birthday party at Jump Zone with all their best buddies. They had a monster theme, complete with monster cake, plates, music, and favors that had monster teeth and monster straws. It was so much fun and a great way to share the special occasion.

More of the REAL day

Wilson’s “real” birthday was filled with almost too much fun! He took a cookie cake to school to celebrate with his teacher and friends. Then he and two friends and all their siblings went to the zoo for lunch. When we got home his grandparents came over with some fantastic cakes (pictured above- from Kroger, FYI and they were delicious. The flowers are made out of Cool Whip!). The Wilson and Ethridge grandparents went in together to get Wilson the ultimate Batman hookup! The Cave, the Car, the Joker, Robin, the Cycle, THE MAN HIMSELF, as well as more accessories than anyone could ask for. Wilson rounded it out by spending some birthday money from some great grandparents on a few villains. These action figures go everywhere with us- I might as well rename the Honda the Batmom mobile! After that we met Dad at the movies to see Where the Wild Things Are. We were a bit disappointed with this “blockbuster”, but that did not ruin what was otherwise a fantastic 5th birthday!

Happy 5th Birthday, Wilson!

October 20, 2009
What a big kid we have on our hands now! There are no words for how much we love this guy and for how much joy he brings us. He definitely keeps us on our intellectual and emotional toes. He loves his sister and is so encouraging to her as she’s learning new things. He’s also learned how to push her buttons, but can you really be considered a good brother if don’t?! This year has been filled with Super Heroes, Legos, riding his new bike, and first sports. He has loved school this year and it’s a good thing because he goes 5 days a week now! He’s reading a little and writing a lot. I was super impressed that he asked to help write thank you notes for his birthday presents and that he stuck with it! He had tried to guess all week (with no success) what he was getting for his birthday. When he got to the bottom of the stairs on his birthday a new bike and other presents were waiting on him in the playroom. “A NEW BIKE! I DIDN’T EVEN THINK OF THAT PRESENT!” Gotta love that response!
Mile stone funny story: He was in trouble one day and I sent him to his room. He came down after a little while and said, “Mom, I have something to show you.” I went upstairs and on his chalk board he’d written momiamsor (Mom I am sorry). I couldn’t believe he’d a)thought to tell me he was sorry on his own, b)attempted to write it- I’ve never asked him to write anything while I wasn’t beside him telling him what letters to write, c)was able to almost get it perfectly right! A few days later he was in trouble again and again I sent him upstairs. On his way up he mumbled, “I guess I gotta go write on my chalk board again”! How do you not laugh?

"Let’s just go slap John"

This is a quote from a family friend upon hearing of the adventures of John one summer while he was in high school. You know everyday run of the mill stuff like scuba diving in the Keys or canoeing in Canada. Imagine the assault should he be regaled with tails of the last few months of Baby John’s life in Alaska. Fishing, spending time on the boats of The Deadliest Catch, tracking wild bear, freezing his hiny off, and just basically living the life. Below are a few pictures he’s shared with me. I figured you’d rather see his adventures- mine involve playing guess that smell in Wilson’s dirty clothes hamper and trying to beat my personal best paper towel usage in scrubbing down Miller’s place at the dinner table. Yeah, it’s a real uncharted frontier around here. . .
